Benefits of Volunteer Work
Volunteer work has many benefits not only for those who you are helping, but your family and your children's future. Children learn by watching the grown ups around them when they see you reaching out to help others they will carry that into their own lives. My youngest loves to volunteer, the benefit for him is the fuzzy feeling he says he gets when he helps someone else. Ever notice when you help someone else you feel better, you smile more and life seems better. Why do you think this is? Because we all want to be good at something and helping others is easy and anyone can do it, we feel like we have achieved something and we have. Another benefit from volunteer work is that we get to meet new people and sometimes make long time friends. Some friends of mine are involved in Girl Scouts, they visited an assited living home and talked to a resident about their life. The girl felt so attached to the elderly gentlemen she talked to they invited him over for dinner, took him to church and made him a part of their family. Many elderly individuals in assited living facilities or nursing homes do not have regular visitors this helps them feel cared for and they love to be around children, especially the women.

Conspiracy 365

Conspiracy 365 is a book series put out by Kane Miller geared towards tweens. One book is released each month, my boys ages 11 & 13 just recently read January and are eager to get Feburary. My one son went to the library looking for it, it was not there. Foxbusiness.com ran an article about the book series back in December 2009, while the article can no longer be viewed on their site below are a few paragraphs from the article.
Gabrielle Lord, one of Australia’s best-selling crime writers, uses the classic serial format to engage readers in a year of
suspense and thrills. Kids can follow Cal day-by-day in real time, if they can tear themselves away without devouring entire
books in one sitting.
However there are others who are talking about this series, such as the librian who admits she is addicted to the series.

Homeschooling While Moving
Well after three months of selling home and purchasing another out of state we are finally finding some sort of normalcy. It has not been easy trying to keep the boys on track and minimal school work was established. We took the subjects which I deemed most important and dropped the rest. The boys had sacrificed days off when others were out of school so we wouldn't fall behind. While it was hard for them to be doing school work when their friends were off I explained to them that there would be days when they would not be doing school and their friends would. It was not an easy three months of selling one house and finding a new house in another state. We lived out of our van for those months and lived with my daughter for a month as we waited to close on our new home. Five people in a one bedroom one bathroom house was not the best situation, but we made it through and I thank the Lord for all of his blessings. Moving and homeschooling are not the easiest things to do in the world, but there are other things which are a lot harder.
